The Group of Sociocultural Studies and Research in Physical Education and Sport (GEPESEFE) was created in July 2020 linked to the Physical Education courses (Licenciatura and Baccalaureate) at the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG), Divinópolis unit, establishing an important milestone at that institution, by inaugurating a group to discuss and investigate Physical Education from a sociocultural perspective. More specifically, the group currently has teachers Mauro Lúcio Maciel Júnior (Physical Education department), Marina de Mattos Dantas (Psychology department), Marco Aurélio Gonçalves Nóbrega dos Santos (Physical Education department) and Nara Heloísa Rodrigues (Physical Education department), therefore, GEPESEFE is formed by people with different academic and professional trajectories, who have similarities and similarities between them, which materialize, above all, in the interest in investigating the different forms of manifestations of human movement . Within this context, it is worth noting the importance given to expressions recognized in the fields of sport and leisure, which are considered privileged objects of study and which are linked to themes outlined by the guidelines present in 4 Lines of Research: “Sociocultural Studies in Physical Education , Sports and leisure"; “Sports and Leisure Management”; “Gender, Diversity and Sport”; “Public Sports and Leisure Policies”. Regarding the group's future possibilities, we thought about addressing two specific themes: the structuring of its activities and the development of research, based on possible scenarios, in the midst of what we have accomplished. Therefore, in operational terms, we intend to continue with GEPESEFE's face-to-face meetings, as we understand these meetings as opportunities to carry out theoretical discussions, to bring together group members, as well as to develop actions aimed at reflecting, evaluating and considering research projects in our areas of interest, highlighting that, in addition to contributing to the production of scientific knowledge, GEPESEFE has, since its inception, been committed to the academic development of its members, providing opportunities , both insertion and deepening in the research context. Therefore, the group has sought not to limit itself only to intellectual production, but also to consolidate itself as a space for broader training for participants, encouraging academic development and the construction of critical skills in its members. This training dynamic goes beyond the accumulation of knowledge, encompassing practical experience and effective participation in research within the different areas of interest covered by the collective.
