The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is an independent international organization founded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which aims to promote, coordinate, and monitor the fight against doping in sport at a global level, through the World Anti-Doping Code. WADA plays a crucial role in this effort, establishing standards that deal with prohibited substances, as well as the manner in which procedures should be carried out. Furthermore, it conducts investigations and promotes trials, offering ample defense and the right to adversarial proceedings to those under investigation. The objective of this article is to demonstrate how WADA is essential for the evolution of sport, fighting daily in favor of fair play and unifying standards worldwide, ensuring that all competitions are fair and that athletes can compete on equal terms around the world, in addition to protecting athletes' health. It also explores prohibited substances, bringing to light the Prohibited List, a fundamental document in the fight against doping, containing all prohibited substances and methods, which are classified into different categories, including stimulants, anabolic steroids, hormones and hormone modulators, diuretics and masking agents, among others. The text also teaches the respected procedures, ranging from the suspicion of doping to the resources available to athletes and coaches to appeal any decisions unfavorable to them. The result of this set of rules and procedures is a fairer sport worldwide and an increasingly present fair play and sportsmanship among competitors, thus contributing to making sport increasingly professional, avoiding fraud or incentives through illicit substances. WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) is a fundamental pillar in the fight against doping in sport, playing a vital role in ensuring that competitions are fair and safe for all athletes. The organization's approach is fundamental to maintaining public confidence and promoting a safe and fair sporting environment, promoting a culture of fair play and preventing doping before it occurs, through education and rigid discipline. The investigation procedure begins with some information exchanges, proceeding to additional tests if necessary, soon after the samples are sent to accredited laboratories that are responsible for carrying out the necessary tests to confirm doping. In conclusion, WADA plays a crucial role in promoting fair play and protecting the integrity of global sport. Through rigorous standards, meticulous investigations, and transparent procedures, the agency ensures fair competitions, protects athletes' health, and strengthens public confidence in professional sports.
